What Customers Say About Monster Cable QL GFP-H QuickLock Gold Flex Pin Connectors (2 Pair):

Get some serious speaker cables with locking connectors.Secondly, realize that these are not small connectors. I'm fairly technically savvy, and a moderate audiophile. With that use case in mind, I highly recommend this product. They will certainly make wiring jobs easier.

Only the braided wire is ever going to be connected to something, but seemingly for aesthetic reasons (ironic, as these aren't works of beauty) the entire top half is all metal. This can cause the top halves of two connectors to touch when closely packed, and I don't need to tell you what that does for your sound quality. If you can handle the size and odd wire-binding of these connectors, (neither of which affects their performance, hence the 4 star review) then by all means, grab them. This problem is exacerbated by the frivolous extension of the metal up the connector body. This can make fitting two of these in close proximity (due to the close proximity of the terminals you're hooking them to) can be challenging.

My primary gripe is that the wire binding system, while effective, isn't great. In fact, the base is about a quarter of an inch in diameter, if not a bit more. However, I wasn't looking for world class sound, merely competent sound for day-to-day use. they're actually quite large.

Also, if you need so much quality that it demands 10 gauge wire (or bigger)., you really shouldn't be using a simple wire and terminal binding. It is innovative in maintaining the flexibility of the connector for older or less precise speakers and terminals, and the overall design is sound. However, there are a few caveats. The connector's seem geared at having *extremely* heavy gauge wire entering them, but were you to have such heavy gauge wire, I doubt they would be able to screw shut around all the bulk.

Although it depends on what you use it for, I would recommend going for Dayton BACT-GRB Banana Plug Pair (Compression Type). If I have to just use them in speaker and AV receiver, trust me banana types are much better choice. They are just lying with me now, opened and unused. The seller (savewithsteve) is great, got everything on time and as desribed. If you are thinking of using these in the wall plates which have pin type inlets, let me warn you - They are thicker and CANNOT be used. Maybe I will use them one day. This feedback is nothing to do with the seller or his service. I think there is a inherent flaw in this product.

But don't worry, if you upgrade your speaker wire later, these connectors come off in a jiffy. The flex tip then feeds into the speaker's guillotine connector with a minimum of fuss and ensures a low-impedance connection. If you have a 6.1 system with all speakers sporting those kind of connections, you need three packs of these. Placed on high quality speaker wire, these connectors are a permanent solution. Even high-end Bose speakers can sometimes utilize "guillotine" connectors through which you have to feed a twisted end of braided speaker cable. Worth the price. These connectors are a SUPERB solution. Unless you're a whiz at this, you often can bend wire strands trying to feed them in. The wire (whether thin gauge "zip wire" or thick Monster Cable wire) is splayed out in this connector and locked in securely via a screw in fastener.

I've used other screw in speaker connectors, but this system is much more secure, easier to use, and solid than the cheaper wire crimp style of attachment. I prefer using dedicated banana clips, but when that isn't possible these really do the job, and do it elegantly. I used these for some old but excellent speakers without modern plug-in binding posts. They worked perfectly, and give me more peace of mind that I have a good connection to the speaker than just sticking the raw wire ends into the clips.

The connections are very close together. Unfortunately, some portion of the metalic top part of the flex pin connector (above the "Monster" name in the picture) must conduct the signal because I kept getting shorts in several of the speakers (no sound).

Once I did that, there were no more shorts and they are working fine. To fix the problem, I had to use tape to cover the metallic top part of every other connector to prevent the metal tops from touching each other.

I bought these to make it easier to connect 12 pairs of speaker cable to a 12 channel amp. But when attached, the Flex pin connectors are fatter than bare speaker wire, so when they lay next to each other, they are firmly touching.

I hope in the future, Monster corrects this issue. The connections on the amp are temination board type (tiny screws and tiny holes on a connector board).

The Flex pin does indeed make the connection much easier than trying to insert bare wire into tiny holes to screw down.
